My Original portrait
After shooting this I got tired with the standard lighting set ups so the rest are really different
Artist statement
I originally took this assignment as I normally do. I aimed to take the best photos I could that conveyed a message of my dad. So, I gave him a glass of scotch and set up key light, rim light, fill light, and edge light. I loved how the first photo turned out but was getting bored of taking the same "great" photos.
So, the rest are mostly relying on practicals, such as Christmas lights and lamps. However, I beamed contrasting colors to separate my dad from the background and have some more fun with the lighting. The outdoor shot is a long exposure to see what natural light I could use at 11:00pm and turned out interesting.
Overall, it was fun to come up with strange ways to take portraits and I enjoyed the creativity.
Before and After
